Konshens links up with Don Corleon!

I like this dude a lot--he's real versatile and can mash up any track. Konshens recently just linked up and released his first single with Don Corleon, the leading reggae/dancehall/roots producer. The track's called "Don't Wanna Die," it's pretty good--some deep lyrics and obviously a well produced track.

Indiscretions Riddim

I take back what I said earlier about the Indiscretions riddim and Jah Cure. After listening to the Jah Cure tune a few times, I've grown to like it, I admit it..

As far as the Indiscretions riddim, straight fire. When I first heard it, I didn't like it; I thought it sounded too pop-ish. Upon further review though, I withdraw my initial impression. The riddim was made by JukeBoxx, who also produced the Nylon Riddim, so these guy definitely have some talent for sure. Below are my two favorite tracks off the rhythm, "Stay Like Bees" by Assassin--who I've really been getting into these days--and "Missing You" by Busy Signal.

Is Jah Cure Selling Out?

A lot of the new shit I've heard from Jah Cure is really "over-produced." It sounds a lot more like pop, and a lot less like the modern roots/culture vibes that have made him so popular. The song below, "Searching," on the Indiscretions riddim is alright, but you forget it's supposed to be reggae. I don't know what he's trying to do, but I don't like it. I wanna see more Jah Cure like from Freedom Blues and True Reflections. I was psyched when I heard his track on the new Changes riddim; I had high hopes for the Cure in 2009, but then I heard this and it killed all of my expectations..

Nickel B Interview - April 6.2009

Be sure to check out my interview with Nickel B of Itation Sound/Records below. If you got some time to check out the whole interview, the guy definitely has a lot of insightful and intelligent things to say about not only his career as a DJ and the journey of Itation Sound from a sound system to a record company, but also nuff words of wisdom about the past and future of Reggae music as well as the teachings of Rastafari. Thanks again to Nickel B for sitting down with me last night - It's always nice to see someone who's found success still care enough to take time out of his schedule to give thanks to fans. ONE LOVE

Delly Ranx to Drop NEW Album Summer '09

Artist and producer Delly Ranx, in collaboration with Itation Records, is set to drop his second album this summer. The project is titled, "Good Profile." Delly has made huge strides over his career as mainly a dancehall artist, with an occasional roots hit here and there, and also as a successful producer. His next album is just wrapping up production with Itation out of California, and I expect nothing but greatness from these two.

Irie Ites' Newst Artist

Introducing: Sena, originally from Ghana. She's the newest female artist on the Irie Ites record label and she's bringin with her a lot of talent--she's killin in lyrically. Her deep, soulful voice adds a unique sound to Irie Ites. A lot of their stuff is a real grungy, rough-neck roots type of sound, with some real grungy, rough-neck roots dudes voicing on top of it. It's nice to get a different flavor coming from these guys.

Check out them out at www.irieites.net

Jam(s) of the Week

Jam of the week: "Do You Hear," by Hyah Slyce. I gotta give thanks to Nickel B for this tune--real mean dancehall track off the Liberty Riddim of 2008. If you've never hear this dude before, he's definitely got some talent. Also check out "All & All" below, which is a better example of what this guy can do on a reggae track. BOOM TUNES!

Good Girl Gone Bad

Tarrus has been hustlin HARD recently. I'm tellin you, his new album is gonna be one of the greatest modern roots albums we've seen since the days of the king himself. He's gettin his feet wet in every way possible. He's been doing collaborations all over the board - tracks with dancehall artists like demarco, bugle and this one below with Konshens. He's of course, also been doing new roots tracks with artists like Alaine and Sizzla, and he's obviously been doin his own this as well. His next album should be a schmorgasbord of different sounding tunes, I can't wait.

This track below is another dancehall colab he did with Konshens, "Good Girl Gone Bad." I first heard it probably a month ago and I remember I wasn't really feelin it at first. It's a very different sound for Tarrus, so you may react the same way at first. The more you listen to it, though, the more you find your self jammin to it. Stay tuned to Rudeboy for more Tarrus...

Tarrus Riley to Drop New Album Soon!

According to the Jamaica Observer, Tarrus Riley, in collaboration with producer/manager/saxophonist Dean Frasier (who also helped produce Tarrus' last two albums), are scheduled to drop a third album this March. Supposedly, there should be tag-team efforts on this album with Damian Marley, Etana, Alaine, Demarco, and more.
Over the past few months I've heard a couple new Tarrus tracks, and each one is absolute fire. I think this third album is gonna be one of greatest modern roots reggae albums to come around in a long time. This track below is one that just came out, off the Changes riddim, it's called "Getty No Want We." Lyrically, it's another hard-hitting single from Tarrus - it's honestly the best Tarrus song I've ever heard, I cannot stop listening to it. The riddim is another hit from Don Corleon productions, check it out below.
Keep a look out of the new album, like I said, which should be out somewhere towards the end of the month/early april.

UPDATE!!

Divshare Sucks (and show 6 now up)

So you can't listen to or download any of the older shows until March 9th, I have no idea why, but that's just what I was told, so cool your jets until then. For now though, below is show 6. If you missed it, you really missed a good. The recording starts like 5 min. in, in the middle of the Higher Meditation riddim.

Remember that Rudeboy Reggae (east coast) will not be on air for 2 weeks as I will be gone for spring break. I definitely plan on coming back raining straight fiyah so be sure to tune in after the short intermission.

Also, I'm in the process of trying to get DJ Tosheba of Itation Sound in the studio sometime in the next coming weeks, so keep an ear out for that. If you missed him this Monday night at Pheonix Landing you missed a good show. Be sure to check him out on myspace to keep up with his local shows and the latest from Itation Records.

Makka Monday Featuring DJ Tosheba (This Monday)

Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, who hosts "Makka Monday" every Monday night from 10pm-1am, is featuring DJ Tosheba of Itation Sound this Monday night! I've never been, but am definitely gonna go check this one out for sure. $5 at the door, but I can't think of a better way to cure a nasty case of the "Mondays" than with Makka Monday at Phoenix Landing.

Rudebwoyy Show 5, NOW UP

I finally got sick of having to record the shows using Audio Hijack. The sound quality never came out that good. So I decided I'd try out the recording equipment in the studio this time and it actually came out a lot better than I expected. The only thing is, though, is that the recording thing splits the show up into tracks automatically, for some unknown reason. So it's a little annoying when you have 11 tracks for one show, rather than 1, which it used to be, but I think the upgrade in sound quality makes up for it. If you wanna listen to the show right from the site, just play the first track in the media player and it will automatically play the whole show out in order for you. If you wanna download the show, click on the title of this post and it will bring you to the link.

[remember that if you do download the show, it had to be recorded on two different CDs, so make sure in your itunes you make the order of the tracks go by the "part #" (part 1, part 2, part 3, etc)  and not by the CD track # cus there will be two track 1's and two track 2's and it wont be in the right order. sounds confusing, but it's really not.]

Comcast Sucks

We here at Rudeboy had some technical difficulties recording last night's show. For some reason only the first 40 min were recorded, due to the lack of Comcast's internet reliability.  It's too bad too, cus a lot of good shit was played late on in show. Oh well, just more reason to tune in to the live show next time huh? Below is what we got recorded, and if you want to download it click on the title of this post. The recording got cut off in the middle of the new Soprano riddim I've been talking up so much recently, so check out the from yesterday to listen to my mix of it.

I'll see what I can do to try and get the rest of this show up on the site, but I'm not making any promises..

Do Not Miss Tonight's Show!

You do not wanna miss the show tonight! I've been dying to drop a new hit riddim for all the rudeboy massive and finally the day has come. It just barely came out like a week ago so it's still oven-fresh--it's called the Soprano Riddim, produced by Bost & Bim Productions. I've never heard anything from these guys before, so im guessing they're a new production company. If this is a sign of things to come from them though, then we are all in for a treat. This is one of the better riddims I have heard in a long, long time. It reminds me a little bit of the iLove Riddim that came out last summer. Bold as it may be, I'm gonna go ahead and say this will be the 2009 roots riddim of the year--you heard it here first.

I was gonna post the mix I made of this riddim tonight, but I think I'll let you guys chune in and listen to it for yourselves. I'll put it up tomorrow night as well as the recording of tonight's show. I got a lot of good tings planned for the show, other than this riddim, so don't miss out. Tune in at midnight.

_______________________

So here's a mix I made of the new Soprano riddim that I played on last night's show. There are a bunch of no-names on this riddim, but each one absolutely tears it up. I think that also says a lot about the quality of the riddim itself, when a bunch of up-and-comers and kill it like they do on this.  The order of the artists on this mix is Omar Perry with "Woman I Love You," Lyricson with "Those With No Love," Sizzla with "It's Just You & I," and Aka Koxx with "Serious Time."

Show Pushed Back A Day, THIS WEEK ONLY!

"Serious Times At Thugz Mansion"

Fresh out the oven, check out the very first match-up produced by JAH-LOVE SOUND MOVEMENT, "Serious Times at Thugz Mansion." A match of "Serious Times" by Gyptian, on the Spiritual War riddim, and "Thugz Mansion" by Tupac. Not absolutely professional-sounding, but still a good song with one common message.

YES, WE CAN

In following today's historic inauguration of our nation's 44th president, Barack Obama, and the official decriminalization of marijuana in Massachusetts--both marking the beginning of an epic era of change--be sure to check out Cocoa Tea's new single, "Barack Obama." It's kinda goofy, but nevertheless, it's very appropriate, considering today's significance. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm ecstatic  looking forward to the future..

False Alarm!

So I got locked out of the studio last Sunday. Don't ask. But I apologize to everyone who was listening in with anxious anticipation, especially etac who planned his whole night on it. Don't let this turn you away from Rudeboy though. Every ting happens for a reason, and I promise to rain straight fire this Sunday so definitely, DEFINITELY tune in..

Rain Wata Riddim

                                    Photobucket
Check out the new riddim from Green Lion and Cutstone Productions, the Rain Wata riddim. I'm on a rain wata binge right now, all I've been listening to is this and Bob Marley for the past month and its yet to get old on me. The riddims been in the making forever and hasn't even been released yet in the US, but will definitely be mashing shit up when it does. This mix is of my favorite four tracks on cd:

1. Mr. Groove - "Beautiful Morning"
2. Chezidek - "Sun or Rain"
3. Loaded - "In the Rain"
4. Kali Blaxx - "One Smoke", kiiillin it with this track. Really good tune, you'll definitely be hearing a lot more from this guy in the future, guaranteed.
