One of the biggest stories in Reggae music this summer is the introduction of the "super group" SuperHeavy. The band includes legends in the music industry Mick Jagger, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, Joss Stone, A.R. Rahman, and Dave Stewart. Their debut single "Miracle Worker" just dropped and it's definitely interesting. Not sure how I feel about Jagger's eccentric presence but Stone and Jr. Gong's chemistry is on point throughout the song. Not completely in love with the tune but their video of them in the studio gives me hope that this group will continue to expand the genre of reggae music in a positive way. The album drops on September 20th, so we'll have to wait and see. If anything, this group just proves that anything Damian touches turns to gold.

The Green Releases New EP Love & Affection

Reggae's biggest up and coming band, The Green, has just dropped their new EP: "Love & Affection". The EP is a sample of their second studio album "Ways & Means," which is scheduled to drop October 25th - around the same time of their next US Tour. Already, the EP has shot to number 1 on the iTunes reggae charts. The new EP is straight fire and gives listeners a nice peak into what's to come. Listening to the new tracks, you can tell this is a not just a remake of the first album, but rather a dynamic evolution that is progressing not only The Green's music, but the entire genre of Reggae music.

This album has been released under the reigns of Easy Star Records, who also represent bands like John Browns Body and Easy Star All Stars. This is going to give The Green's music the international spotlight it deserves and hopefully give the band the ability to put together an international tour sometime in the near future. My favorites off the EP are Travlah and Got Me In Love. If you haven't purchased a copy yet, quit reading this blog post and go buy it off iTunes!
