A Tarrus Riley Afternoon

Sometimes I just need a Tarrus Riley afternoon...  I had heard his most recent release on the Adam & Eve Riddim, "For Me" and I had been meaning to check out a BSMG Mixtape, "Still Outta Da Box", that he threw up on his Facebook a little while back.  The combination of both was a solid session of one of my all-time favorite artists.

These mixtapes made entirely of one Reggae artist have been growing on me recently.  ('Introducing Protoje' by Yaadcore and Randy Valentine's 'Bring Back the Love' first come to mind.)  Tarrus Riley's most recent mixtape is solid as well.  Made up of mostly his newer tracks and some cool mashups I hadn't heard, it is interesting to see his roller-coaster view of relationships and love.  Judging by "For Me" we can only hope that things are on the ups for him.  The two mashups above were my favorites off the mixtape.  First, I've always loved the beat from Miguel & J. Cole's "All I Want is You," and it's awesome to hear Tarrus' voice over it.  Second, Tarrus and Alaine crush it on a cover(ish) of Gotye's, "Somebody That I Used to Know."

For those of you that are still getting familiar with Tarrus Riley, here is another mixtape consisting more of his older classics.
