Roots Corner: Twinkle Brothers - Enter Zion

The Twinkle Brothers were formed by Norman and Ralston Grant in the early 1960s.  The two brothers later linked up with Eric Barnard, Karl Hyatt, and Albert Green to create one of the longest lasting reggae bands to date (several members of the group still perform together in the UK).  The album Enter Zion was recorded in 1984 on the Twinkle Music record label and contains some of the group's best hidden gems.  With a raw roots style, the Twinkle Brothers truly stand out from the rest of the pack.  The songs “Your Oil Runs Out” and “No Loving Tonight” are perfect examples of why the Twinkle Brothers' music has withstood the test of time.  The group's unique blend of conscious lyrics and heavy drum and bass provides for some pretty catchy tunes.  Check out the rest of the album on itunes.
