Introducing: Osiris Fire

Hailing from Boston, MA, Osiris Fire is made up of a collection of 9 students at Berklee College of Music. Led by a killer 4-member horn section, these guys have more of an instrumental style reggae, lacking any dominant vocals. If they could lock down some powerful pipes to join the crew, and make it an even 10 members, I think they could really start cranking out some quality production. That said, I do enjoy the sound they have currently -- it very much resembles John Brown's Body, with a dash of electronic/futuristic spice here and there.

The video above is of their latest single release, "Shacklebreaker," shot locally on a Berklee rooftop. You can also check the rest of their EP here.

Chronixx on the Tonight Show

Story has it that Jimmy Fallon was visiting Jamaica when he heard Chronixx on the airwaves, and said he needed him on the show!  Regardless, big things for Chronixx and Reggae music to be on the Tonight Show a few nights ago.  It's really just another example of Chronixx blazing the path for this generation of Reggae music.

Acoustic Video: J Boog - Break Us Apart

Speaking of J Boog, check the acoustic version of "Break Us Apart". One of my favorite tracks of his more recently released music. This video was recorded yesterday at one of the radio stations down here in HI!

New Single: SOJA - Easier Ft. J Boog & Anuhea

New single from SOJA titled "Easier" featuring J Boog & Anuhea. Gotta say this is probably my favorite single Ive heard so far off of the upcoming album, Amid The Noise & Haste, set to drop in August. Heres a quote from lead singer Jacob Hemphill on the track:

"Easier is about how life is just for living and that happiness can be easily found, if we relax, look around, take a deep breath, see how beautiful everything is, realize that everything is alive and that we are all responsible for each other. The earth, the humans, the plants, the animals, were all one thing. The water, the wind, the dirt, the trees, were all there together. And it would be a lot easier if we didn't have to try to be something were not and if we didn't have to lie and say that were something were not. And I thought, who would understand that? Hawaiians. So I asked my friends J Boog and Anuhea to help rock the track."

Purchase on iTunes & support the movement! Aloha

Randy Valentine: "Break the Chain" EP

Randy Valentine's sophomore EP is hardly breaking news, having been released in April, but I had to be sure that everyone's sampled it by now.  So far, he has developed a reputation for high-energy, positive, conscious Reggae music, and this EP doesn't disappoint.  We were introduced to a few of the big tunes before the release, but he maintains consistent quality throughout -- "Carry On" is one of my new favorites.

This EP is selling for only $4.99 on iTunes which is such a steal. And how Randy Valentine has only 696 followers on his SoundCloud is beyond me..  This guy is bound to get some recognition one of these days!

Introducing: Natural High

Natural High is a newly established record label and dub sound hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, specializing in producing, recording, and mixing roots/dub music. The group made it's big debut  in 2013 on Lutan Fyah's most recent album, "Life of a King," which features three fully-produced tracks from the label. Their latest offering was just released on July 1st -- a single, "Live Forever," featuring rising star, Dre Island. The track boasts some raspy vocals - resembling a cross between Kymani and Damian Marley - a  heavy bass line, and a dub vibration that sounds like it has some subtle trance-type influence.

Up next for Natural High, they are expecting to release work featuring the likes of artists such as Jesse Royal, Chezidek, Jah Vinci, Lutan Fyah and more. In the meantime, you can preview their latest single above and pick up a copy for yourself on iTunes today.
